Sports betting was legalized in Colorado after a referendum passed in 2019. Starting May 1, 2020 both onsite and online sports wagering will be allowed.
Ameristar has not announced who it will partner with to run both its in-person and online sportsbook. However, in January 2020 Penn National Gaming, which owns Ameristar, acquired a stake in Barstool Sports and plans on launching a Barstool Sportsbook brand in the near future.
PNG currently operates Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Pennsylvania. At Hollywood Casino, bettors can wager on just about every sport available at the casino’s retail sportsbook. The types of wagers they accept include straight bets, parlays, match-ups, futures, props, and in-play betting.
In Colorado, it appears likely that Ameristar will be able to accept bets on all those contests and possibly even more. Colorado has a Sports Betting Catalog that will include everything sportsbooks are able to take wagers on. The catalog is not available to the public yet, but the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission has stated the catalog is massive.

The Ameristar Casino is part of the national mychoice loyalty program, which is used across Penn National Gaming casinos throughout the country. What that means is mychoice rewards that players earn at any PNG casino, such as the Tropicana Casino in Las Vegas, can be redeemed at other PNG casinos, like the Ameristar.
New mychoice members receive $30 in free play guaranteed. On their first visit, members get a complimentary $5, then $10 on their second visit, and $15 on their third. Mychoice members also have the chance to get up to $500 after those three visits.
When you play slots and table games with mychoice, you receive tier points and mycash. Tier points allow you to advance to the next membership level, while mycash can be redeemed for free playing, dining, shopping, or hotel stays.
